Jekka McVicar tells us about sea kale and chive flowers

Fri 30 May 2008 @ 16:22 Hi guys,

I catch up with Jekka McVicar at the Chelsea Flower Show. This year Jekka gave me a flower from the herb sea kale to taste. Sea kale is native to Britain and found in coastal areas. I thought it smelled and tasted like honey and would work well over strawberries. She also showed us how to break up chive flowers to use in a salad.

P.S. There's a nice tune called "Fallen Snow" at the start by Au Revoir Simone.

Estaría encantadísima de contarte una serie de cosas sobre la cocina española, en concreto la dieta mediterránea de aquí. Si vieses esto y lo entendieses, en fin, búscame. Una admiradora sobre todo por tu poder de comunicación. Besos

4. Katie Archer Wed 11 Jun 2008 @ 22:40 I love these film clips with Jekka! I'm captivated at listening to her - I could listen to her for hours, and scramble down notes. I was excited to hear her comment that its really amazing/exciting that people are starting to learn the power of the plant. I love hearing that, and I'm interested in learning about the plants in my own area, albeit a sparse desert! Jekka, you rock! You're a pioneer in your field, and what an inspiration you've become. I've recently lost 30 pounds, and I'm losing more, and plant foods are certainly a part of my plans.
5. Diana Sat 31 May 2008 @ 11:40 My name is Diana, I am 17 years old and I live in Slovakia... I like watching you on TV also my dad has bought your books and video cassettes-they are gorgeous, they helped me a lot when I was cooking your recipes last time.In our country, we are a little bit conservative as for cooking.I really love your way you cook. You are so open-minded and unconvetional. I would like to be like you one time.you are some kind of gaol for me I wanna to achieve! I neednt to be a chef cooker, I am glad that I try to cook, despite the fact that nobody takes care and is really interested in.I want to thank you, I am really appreciated...
