About
I come from a french canadian family where my mom and her brothers and sisters would argue on what the best way would be to make a roast beef. Every family reunion and great family memories that I have revolve around the kitchen and kitchen table. That is where I get my love of good fresh food!!

GENERAL BLOG

I have had a great weekend doing some home cooking.

A friend of mine (Sherrill) had grown some chilies this summer.  The funny thing is that she is super keen on hot food so I got them.  After they finally ripen I wondered what I am suppose to do with over 20 Scotch bonnet/Habanero peppers.  Decided to try and make some chili powder.  Dried them in the oven at low temp (150 F) until dry (took about 12 hours).  It made the house smell fantastic.  Once dried put pulverized them in a food processor.  What a nice strong flavor ... beautiful.

Today I made my mother's pasta sauce and instead of added the usual cayenne pepper I put my newly made chili powder.  It has given it a wonderful bite.  Next year I'll be growing my own.

Later!  smile
