About
I am in my mid-30's, married with two young daughters. I love cooking, especially sweet stuff, and one-pot wonders like stews and roasts. I enjoy having friends over for dinner.
I also love travelling, but it is difficult at the moment with two young children. Some of my favourite destinations are Italy, Brussels (chocoholic heaven) and Germany (my ancestral home). I am currently based in Melbourne which I consider my home city, although my itchy feet make me a bit of a nomad when the opportunity arises.

I made Andy's Fairfield Granola from Feast by Nigella Lawson for Christmas gifts for my in-laws. I decorated the jars with some ribbon and made my own little cards to attach. The granola does taste and smell delicious.
Here is the recipe. Very easy to make.

GENERAL BLOG
I made a kind of ratatouille thrown together to use up veggies in the fridge. I chopped into small slices carrots, and chunks: leek, red and green capsicums (peppers), zucchini (courgette), and tomato. I placed it all in a baking dish and added a jar of tomato passata, some white wine and I excitedly ran out to my herb pots and used my first home grown herbs - some greek oregano (smelt wonderful). And as I have a huge amount of potatoes in the pantry at the moment, I thinly sliced some and placed them in a layer on top, and seasoned with salt and pepper. Then I popped it into a moderately hot oven for about 1 hour, but 15 mins before the end I added some grated parmesan to the top. The house smelt wonderful from the cooking, and it was very tasty. I even convinced Miss 4 to eat some through television bribery and hubby enjoyed it although he really missed meat in it. I served it with steamed sushi rice just because I like that type of rice.

Here is my dish for the Moroccan challenge for Ready Set Cook (Sept 2010). The recipe was from North African Cookery by Arto der Haroutunian, and I have to say it did not deliver much flavour. The cous cous was just buttered and steamed, the chicken pieces were cooked in water with butter and a stick of cinnamon and salt and pepper. The highlight and only redeeming feature of this dish was the honey onion sauce. I am taking this book back to the library!

This is the best ice cream I have made so far. Had the smoothness and taste of ones I had in Italy.
See my blog for more details and the recipe. I really don't think you need an ice cream maker to make this Baci (Nutella) ice cream.
