Leave the gun, take the cannoli

My favorite dessert of all time is crunchy, creamy cannoli. To be more specific I prefer the Sicilian variety with bits of green pistachios, delicate grated cinnamon bark and candied orange peel mixed into the sweet cheese filling. It is absolutely cruel I cant have one of those every day.

A friend of mine has an elderberry tree and makes sheep's milk frozen yogurt with the dark berries. It is wonderful on a Belgian waffle (the kind with the big chunks of sugar crystals inside).

I love black coarse pumpernickel bread with mayo and those last real tomatoes of the season. It make them pop out in flavor. It make life simpler. Which is a good thing.

I made this sweet and fiery pimento jelly witch is great with roast beef. Even the jars seem to glow from within. It was my first time making jelly or using pectin and I had a blast! Next week I will try to make Sauterne and thyme jelly or chai jelly or rose petal jelly. That's it, I'm going nuts.

I love to slap on fresh figs, chèvre and caramelized onions on my pizza. The Italians say never more than 3 toppings or you will go to hell, or whas that Dante Alighieri who said that? Anyhow it tastes fabulous.
