Stuffed zucchini...

... but coring did not work this time. ![]()
To make the best of a bad job - some zucchini varieties seem to refuse being cored with my apple-core-remover-thingy
- I simply layered the bulgur, the minced beef stuffing, the fried zucchini and the minted yoghurt sauce into square bowls.
Looked nice and was delicious all the same... ![]()
Warm salad with teriyaki beef
Wed 14 Jan 2009GARDEN BLOG
I tried to be creative yesterday... ![]()
At first I dissolved brown sugar in soy sauce and added a shot of rice wine. Then I marinated the beef with this and set aside.
Then I washed and spun dry the salad and put it on a large glass plate. I presume, everyone washes other veggies as well before eating them, so I won´t mention it again...
Put on the tomato halves and bell pepper stripes. Add onion rings (omitted adding garlic as OH fears to be redlined by his colleagues...
) and chili cubes and parsley, drizzled a few drops of sesame oil on top and set aside.
Put on a pan to maximum heat. Added 1 tbsp of peanut oil. Added drained beef (as too much of the marinade would force beef to cook instead of frying). Fryed for 1 minute and added on top of the salad. Then I added the marinade, more soy sauce, more sugar, a pinch of Chinese five spice powder, a bit of water and let this simmer some seconds. At last I added some rice vinegar and poured it over the salad. Finally sprinkled some sesame seed on top. Done! ![]()
We ate it immediately with a slice of toasted white bread. We enjoyed it!

Another try to stir fry :o)
Sun 11 Jan 2009GENERAL BLOG
Since the temperature is stuck below freezing for weeks, outdoor cooking costs a lot of effort these days. But yesterday nite my husband and me were so keen on trying to stir fry once again that we hazarded the conseqences without fear... ![]()
We agreed to try a beef dish with beans, onions, red cabbage and peanuts. As we have big respect for the wok burner, we did not just shiver from the cold but also from the excitement. ![]()
But finally, it was a real success and really delicious. Yippieh!
