About
Hi Everyone, My name is Bel.
I am a stay at home Mother of 2.
Nakita is 8 and Clayton is 5.
I keep very busy just looking after the house & kids, I havent a clue how people raise kids & have full time jobs. My hat is off to anyone that can manage that & not go crazy.
I have a background in hospitality. Mostly bar & waitressing but I was getting into the management side of things when I left to start a family. Next year I may do commercial cookery.
This year Clayton has started school, and now they are both there I am volunteering to help out by joining the Parents & Citizens Asoc. in the Vice Presidents role. I am also on the canteen committee which means lots of hours spent catering sporting events & later in the year, a local vintage car show.
My Avatar: That is my son Clayton when he was almost 2 years old. I had just gotten my J.O mortar & pestle for my 30th birthday. How cute is he?
Well, thats it. Me. In a nutshell.

Middle Eastern Spiced Hogget Cutlets
Sun 01 Nov 2009GENERAL BLOG
My local butcher has been advertising sides of lamb for $70 for a while now, I was intrigued last week to find they were selling sides of hogget for $50.
I asked the butcher what they were weighing in at & he told me 13kg - thats 3kg more than the side of lamb I bought a few weeks back. BARGAIN. A hogget is a lamb that has its first 2 teeth.
For tonights dinner I rubbed some nice thick cutlets with the spice mixture I bought for making Kebbeh - a middle eastern lamb rissole type thing - drizzled over the evoo & left them in the fridge for a few hours.
I boiled some baby potatoes, drained them & mixed them with sliced onion & some quartered mushrooms, fried those up on the solid plate while grilling the cutlets on the BBQ along with some asparagus I had oiled lightly.
Along with some of the tabouli (tabouleh) I made tody from my parsley forest & some homemade hommous, also some mountain bread for lack of lebanese flat breads that was dinner.
Here is a link to my tabouli recipe over in Foodwise

Birthday Boy
Sun 25 Oct 2009GENERAL BLOG
The kids all went wild when they saw this cake - really, anyone would have thought they had never seen a party cake before. The crowded 'round & were oohhing & arhhing while I tried to light the candles in the breeze.![]()
For a party with that many kids it was very relaxed - I didnt organise any games or anything, just let them ride their bikes & scooters - my sister in law brought a couple of balls & this kept them all entertained all afternoon.
Dino Cake
Sun 25 Oct 2009GENERAL BLOG
Well the party yesterday was a big success. We had fantastic weather. We BBQed sausages & had them on bread with sauce.
I made a dip platter for the grown ups & the kids went made for the little dino's in jelly shots & the dino biscuits didnt last long either - plus lollies, softdrink & crisps.
The 25 or so kids had a ball riding their bikes under the trees & thankfully the resident Magpie stayed away for the duration. Maybe it was that we had numbers on our side?
Dino Detail
Thu 22 Oct 2009GENERAL BLOG
Last night Nakita, Clayton & I iced on details with icing "pens"
In retrospect I think this medium may have been a mistake as after 3 hours the detail was not dry so I have had to store the biscuits in a single layer in the hope they dry before tomorrow so I can pack them in their little cellophane bags.
Cross everything folks!

You will notice the tree trunks are a little bare - Im hoping this will make standing them on the cake a little easier.
