Christmassy Orange Liqueur

1 unwaxed orange
15 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
3 anise stars
250 g dark rock sugar (lighter sugar works, but will not give the same color - like brandy - and the same richness)
1 bottle (0.7 l) Weizenkorn (a clear liquor made of wheat. Replace with vodka if you can't find)

Cut a few zests from the orange and put into a container that seals well. Push the cloves into the orange and put orange into the same container. Add spices and sugar. Pour liquor over.
Let steap for at least 3-4 weeks.
Pour through a sieve and fill into bottles.

Makes a great Christmas present.
A friend used her leftovers of this to soak the raisins for her stollen last year. She says it turned out even better than with the usual rum.

The picture shows this year's jar after about 5 or 10 minutes.

I love this idea SussaneH but I just never get around to it... maybe this year, we always have 3 bottles of vodka delivered in November for Christmas.. maybe this year will be the year...
