I am a fit and healthy 29 year old man '6''5 and weighing around 15 and a half stone. I work run and workout regularly, and I am part of the England Karate team. I am very concerned about OUR food. And would like to discuss the following:
recently after reading several articles and doing my own research I would like to ask your views.
I would like people's view and advice on several items that the food industry puts in our food.
1)
Firstly I would like to know views on Aspartame? what the effects really are and why the internet condemn this un-natural sweetener as poison and is aspartame part of the reason why cancer is on the increase?
2)
fluoride? Is it really good for your teeth. Much of the reading I have done states that it was first used by the In Nazi and Soviet-era prison camps, where fluoride was added to water because as it was known to produce confusion and apathy? And in fact it is a toxin waste produced by industry put in our water supply that weakens bones? Please let me know your views on this?

3), MSG( monosodium glutamate) What the hell is this and why don't we just use salt?
if they are pushing GM foods so fast why aren't they being stopped?
Does anybody believe the GM thing (terminator seeds etc etc ) ???
5) What are your views on the company monsanto? please research :
The World According to Monsanto (yahoo.com or dogpile.com) does not come up on google
I thought if anybody can give me truth into some of the information I have been reading it would be people who follow someone like Jamie Oliver (thank-you for attacking the giants with the chicken problem and informing the public)
I am extremly worried and would really like to hear the views of peoplelike myself that know a thing or two about food.
The "internet" is not the most reliable source of accurate information so I wouldn't put too much faith in everything you read.
Fluoride information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoride (looks pretty accurate to me but you could check with a dietitian too)
Some information (from medical professionals) on food allergies and intolerances
http://www.cs.nsw.gov.au/rpa/allergy/re … fintro.cfm
It is interesting to note (see above link) that MSG and some other "bad" additives are only bad for people who have intolerances to them.
You have choice when you are purchasing food, you can choose not to buy foods with additives - which is usually the cheaper option anyway.
Please trust the government and visit all the sites they recommend and you will clearly see you have nothing to worry about. Got to go now, Eastenders is on.
hmmmm....
Never trust any large group without doing your own research I say...
I hate aspartamene - it's in a mega amount of children's drinks, foods and sweets...to be honest I'd rather my ten year old son consumed a resonable amount of sugar and learned to take care of his teeth and diet than allow him to consume artificial sweeteners. He will now lift any drink and read its label, putting down those with aspartamene. He would like to follow his peers sometimes and guzzle Sunny thingamy orange concoction but I'm firm and he knows why. Some of his friends are hyper before they even get to school and others seem to on the verge of anger most of the time. I believe aspartamene is one of the causes.
I remember when I was small and growing up in the country my dad had piped our well to flow into our kitchen tap. Sweet cool water - we drank little else as children. Then we moved into the town and on a summer's day I raced inside to drink from the tap. I spat it out - it was town water and horrible - foul tasting.
The addition of any amount of a substance to our water will have an impact - think of the Bach Flower remedies - they work on the theory that a trace element of a healing plant will have a powerful effect when consumed in its 100th or less part. Therefore if the trace element is not a healing substance but a manipulative one the effect will be likewise. And I don't give a fiddle that the big pharmacies say that Bach Remedies are not scietifically proven...herbal remedies developed long before we knew why they worked.
Monsodium glutamate is nasty - there to fool the taste receivers that they're sensing something great...regardless of quality. It also can leave a thick feeling in the throat after it's been consumed - this is my alert which tells me it's present in something I've just eaten.
I'm not a nutritionalist - just a single mum who puts two and two together. Also look out for chicken which the 'ingredient' label states "water" after the word "chicken" - there was a prog on few years back highlighting the underhand method some unscrupulous European meat factories have of soaking the chicken pieces in a bovine hormone which then makes the chicken absorb water thus making it weigh more - safer to stick to a reputable organic source.
I could rant all day about additives I know about however I'm sure there are many I'm still unaware of.
