IDEAS FOR A BLIND CHEF.

HI ALL!!!

My fiance' is blind and is catching the cooking bug. She is looking for good but also easy recipes for a beginner chef. These recipes must be accessible to a blind lady. That's not quite as easy as it seems. Yes chopping etc is possible but it's a pain in her buttered buns (you try it).
Also many instructions in braille or audio transcribed cookbooks don't really make a lot of sense for a blind person. Such as; 'Cook prawns until pink', or 'Brown the meat', or 'Just as the butter melts' etc etc etc.
So if you have any recipes you think may be useful please post them here.

What about a nice pasta pesto? with home made pesto...she can smell what herbs she puts in the food processor (no cutting) and feel with her hands what amounts to put in...maybe the olive oil is a bit tricky but if you put some clear measurements on some cups (piece of tape?) think she can manage? the pasta must be boiled of course which can be dangerous...but think she must be a smart lady so think she will be careful...when pasta is finished, just stir in the pesto...serve with some rocket salad or a caprese salad (tomatoes and mozarella)...lovely meal...
Good luck with it...maybe she also likes baking...not much can go wrong with that?? think home made bread is the best thing ever...and when you use ready made bread mix you do not have to weigh anything just put in whats on the box..(easy if you can tell her in advance...) kneading and shaping the bread is also lovely to do...it clears my mind...
Cakes/muffins are also easy to make...
Must be difficult...think it is very nice she enjoys cooking and that she is not stopped by her ''handicap'' !! Strong woman!!
