Next week Jamie Oliver’s Drinks Tube is setting up shop in Old Street Tube Station in East London for a special week of cocktail making.

They will be taking requests from passers by, Twitter and Facebook followers, and a few choice celebrities, then knocking them up throughout the day. To get involved and get your cocktail made just use the hashtag #cocktailrequest to send us a picture of your favourite ingredient, or a scene that you think might inspire our mixologists. They’ll then knock it up and the video uploaded to Drinks Tube as soon as it’s ready.

If we pick your picture not only will you get a mention and a cocktail recipe, we’ll even name the cocktail after you. If you’re in the vicinity you could even come down and watch it being made and filmed – on the day we’ll have lots of special guests, including Simone Caporale, DJ BBQ, Gennaro and Jonny from the Craft Beer Channel.

So get thinking! Jamie will kick things off with a request from where he is on holiday to give you some ideas. And watch this space too, because we’ll be keeping up with all the action.

With every day that passes, the line-up for Jamie’s Big Feastival 2014 gets more and more exciting. The last two years have been off the hook, but this time it’s going to be a real party, because Jamie’s favourite Food Tube stars are going to be cooking up a storm.

As well as Jamie’s mentor Gennaro Contaldo, who has cooked at every Feastival to date, we’ve got DJ BBQ, Cupcake Jemma and former Fifteen apprentice Kerryann Dunlop, all of whom recently released their own Food Tube cookbooks which you can buy here.

Joining them will be My Virgin Kitchen’s heroic home chef, Barry Lewis; the lovely Michela Chiappa of Channel 4 fame; Food Busker John Quilter and, all the way from Argentina, the winner of Jamie’s search for a Food Tube star, Felicitas Pizarro.

That’s not all though, because along with all these lovely home-grown talents, we’ve got some world renowned chefs doing demos throughout the weekend. Alongside Jamie himself you’ll be able to see Monica Galetti, sous chef at La Gavroche and star of Masterchef; Ashley Palmer-Watts, head chef at Heston Blumenthal’s Dinner; and, one of our favourite chefs of all time, the double-Michelin-starred Nathan Outlaw, who we caught up with at Taste Festival in London, to see just how excited he was about Feastival.

It turns out the thing he was most looking forward to was someone else cooking for a change…

That said, our favourite piece is Jamie’s nostalgic look back at his birthplace. He’s travelled all over the world but still calls Essex home, and also the home of so much great food. Looking at the evidence, he may well be right.

On top of that, Jamie also has a cook-off with mag editor Andy Harris, and the team explore their favourite 50 chefs, restaurant and foodie destinations before taking a look back at their first 50 issues.

Jamie says: “Well, folks, here we are – issue 50! What a journey it’s been since we first set out to create a magazine celebrating beautiful photography and interesting food stories, while also giving readers content that’s relevant, doable and inspiring. Six years on and I believe we’ve achieved just that.”

From here the magazine can only get better. Andy says: “We’re all really excited about our 50th birthday issue! It feels such a milestone that we also decided to redesign the magazine a bit – adding loads more content and easy recipes and we’ve also started a members club for all new and old subscribers.”

To celebrate the official launch of Drinks Tube, tonight Jamie is presenting a live food and drink extravaganza on the rooftop of one of his restaurants. You can tune in here from 7.30pm BST.

Hosted by Food Tube, Jamie will be joined by all the amazing talent on the channel, including DJ BBQ, Cupcake Jemma and Kerryann Dunlop, who all released their first books with the channel last month. Between them they will be cooking up some serious party food, from bodacious burgers to creamy-topped cupcakes.

But tonight it’s really all about the drinks. We’ve got Simone Caporale whipping up three incredible cocktails, as well as all the other Drinks Tube talent – including Camille, Giuseppe and the Craft Beer Boys.

Because the show is live there are lots of ways you can get involved.
