terms of use

By using the website you agree to be bound by the following terms of use, which shall take effect immediately. If you do not agree to all the following terms of use, then please stop using the site. Please note that I may change these terms at any time by posting changes to these pages, and continued use of my website implies acceptance of any changed terms of use.

Sorry to sound harsh, guys, but I'm afraid that you're not allowed to copy, reproduce, republish, download, post, broadcast, transmit or otherwise use content from my website, newsletter or podcasts in any way except for your own personal enjoyment and non-commercial use.

Secondly, as a visitor to my site, you agree to use it for lawful purposes only, and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict or inhibit anyone else's use and enjoyment of it. Prohibited behaviour includes harassing or causing distress to any person by using obscene or offensive language or disrupting the normal flow of dialogue between users of the website.

The team working on the website will do their best to block offensive language in the public forums or blog, however, some rude words may slip through. If you do spot something offensive please report it to my web team at mission control@jamieoliver.com and they will try to do something about it as soon as possible.

Many of you like contributing to the website, either by sending or posting up recipes, stories, blog comments, other ideas, messages and other stuff like photos, video or audio material... I love receiving these things and sometimes I want to share them with the rest of you on the site or in the podcasts or the newsletters. We ask for a non-exclusive licence from contributors so that we can make full use of any material they may place on the website without having to go back to the contributor each time we want to make use of their contribution. We ask for a waiver of moral rights to enable us to edit the text, images that are uploaded and to potentially not credit the source of the contribution. We want to make it clear to those who contribute that this is what we are entitled to do. Anyone who is not happy to contribute on this basis need not do so. Obviously it is not Jamie's intention to prevent contributors making use of their own content hence the non-exclusive licence.

By submitting your contribution to jamieoliver.com you acknowledge that your contribution is your own original work and that you have the right to make it available to the jamieoliver.com website for all the purposes specified above; is not defamatory or rude; and does not infringe any law; and in the case of recipes, won't make anyone ill; and you shall indemnify us against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by us as a result of your breach of the above warranty; and waive any moral rights in your contribution for the purposes of its submission to and publication on jamieoliver.com and the purposes specified above.

Thanks for continuing to support my website. Apart from all the fun stuff, as with everything in life, there are a few boring (but important) pieces of information that I need to let you know about. This all relates to whether you're just browsing the site, using the blog, comments, forum and newsletter services, downloading the podcasts or calling the hotline.

privacy policy

In creating my email newsletter and forum, I want to make sure that we do the right thing by you and the law (I know that it can be really annoying when your inbox gets jammed with useless information from companies trying to sell you stuff that you really do not want!).

In order to receive the newsletter and post in the forum, you must first register and share a little of your personal info with me. Any information that you submit is protected, and I will not sell it on to third parties - ever. However, you can decide if you want to allow me to share your contact details with some carefully selected companies or organisations that offer services I think may be of interest to you.

Secondly, you may review the information we keep about you at any time by logging into the forums and visiting your profile page. You can update the information we hold about you and opt out of services you have registered for. If you wish to remove your data completely and permanently, you can email missioncontrol@jamieoliver.com with your request.
