happy birthday gennaro!

Today is a bit special because my lovely friend and mentor, Gennaro Contaldo, turns 60. I’ve known Gennaro since I trained under him as a young chef about 15 years ago and I find it hard to believe that the handsome devil is in his sixties! He’s full of life, always happy and the amount of stuff he knows about food continues to amaze me to this day.

We surprised him with a few celebratory drinks at the office earlier and, for the first time since I’ve known him, he was absolutely speechless. There was a lot of love in the room and not a dry eye.

Happy birthday my dear friend. You are a true inspiration to me, an absolute gentleman and the best friend I could ever have.
