TEDx Change LONDON with Jamie Oliver's Fabulous Feasts at the Science Museum

Wednesday, 1 September 2010

The organisers of the TEDx Change LONDON conference successfully hosted their first event at London's Science Museum on September 20th, with Jamie Oliver's Fabulous Feasts proving the obvious choice to enhance this internationally prestigious forum.

The TEDx Change LONDON conference, entitled The Future We Make, specifically focused on what the future holds for health and development around the world. It featured key speaker Melinda French Gates talking about the 10th anniversary of the Millennium Development Goals, set for all 192 UN Member States to reduce extreme poverty, child mortality rates and fight disease epidemics such as AIDS. Jamie Oliver is the current holder of the TED Prize awarded earlier this year.*

Jamie Oliver's Fabulous Feasts delivered the company's new fresh approach to event catering, enjoyed by a fantastic audience of international thought leaders, scientists and innovators attending this first TEDx event.

Jamie Oliver's Fabulous Feasts' team, led by Managing Director Nigel Harris, served a delightful array of light refreshments during the afternoon break and an evening feast incorporating fresh, cleverly sourced ingredients to create tasty food to inspire the ideas and debates.

Creative Director & Assistant Curator to TEDxLondon, Rebecca Wright commented:

"The support from Jamie Oliver's Fabulous Feasts for TEDxLondon has been invaluable. Many guests mentioned the imaginative food in detail and commented on the excellent service. All in all, we hope to work with them again in the future."

TEDx London an independently born TED event, born from the TED initiative, a non-profit organisation devoted to 'ideas worth spreading', for which previous speakers have included Bill gates, Al Gore, Sir Richard Branson and Gordon Brown.

Two conferences will be taking place simultaneously, one for 150 key leaders in New York and the satellite event in London for more than 300 of the UK's top thinkers, scientists and innovators. These will be brought together though a video link up through mission critical event production from Live and Evan Grant.

* Jamie Oliver is the current holder of the TED Prize awarded earlier this year based on Jamie's intent to set up an organisation to create a popular movement that will inspire people to change the way they eat. The international accolade was awarded in recognition of Jamie's winning wish, which stated:

"I wish for your help to create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity."

The TED Prize is awarded annually to an exceptional individual who receives $100,000 and, much more important, "One Wish to Change the World." Designed to leverage the TED community's exceptional array of talent and resources, the Prize leads to collaborative initiatives with far-reaching impact.
