Well I am back home in Wales .

Cornwall was wonderfull. It was a bit tricky to find 15 as it was so dark , my freinds 'sat nav' sent us down the wrong road and it was a dead end at tne end of a windy lane that displayed a sign that said..'no turning'!!. We back-tracked and found our way to 15 without the sat nav!!

There was plenty of parking as we seemed to aproach the restaurant through a large carpark. It was only 50p to park ( much much cheaper parking than I am used paying to at home in Cardiff !).

It was a shame that it was dark when we were dining as I could see that it daylight the veiws across the bay would be spectacular.

15 is very welcoming, we did not have to wait before being seated, lovely stylish decor. It was lit by loads of clusters of soft lit large teardrop shaped lights in a soft white colour. These were really beautiful.

The staff were lovely and very attentive , they allowed us to eat and enjoy our meal without being rushed in any way...so top marks there , it was lovely having the time to eat and savor all the courses...thankyou .

The meal was faultless..(well in truth I did have one tiny mummble about the clotted cream as it was not as good as the clotted cream that my friends daughter makes from her heard of Jersey cows...but I am a bit spoilt and bias'd when it comes to clotted cream!!)

The '15' red wine that my friends drank was delicious, I rarely drink but did have a little drop.I did not order it and I am no real wine buff and so I am not sure what type of wine it was.
Mostly I drank water.

To start with.. we were bought a selection of beautiful breads and the most delicious green olives that I have ever tasted. This was discribed on the menu as..
Ken's fantastic homemade bread,Fontodia olive oil & the biggest green olives from Puglia.

The olive oil, (2006 Fontodi) was beautiful and I could not resist buying a bottle of it before I left 15 , if I understood what we were told correctly , the olive oil was made partly by last years trainees on a trip to Italy last year...awsome olive oil, a beautiful green colour and the most totaly wonderfull taste.
Realy we could have done with 2 dishes of olive oil on the table between us as we were a party of 7 and so had to keep passing it about.

Then...to get us started, we had..
Robs candy beets, corinish rocket & horseradish
Honey roast spiced pear, gorgonzola dolce , walnut and sorrel pasto

These were presented on little white china spoons (oriental style spoons) that fitted onto their own groved plate. They looked delightful, very pretty all together. It was quite impressive to see the tray plates of spoons all together, so attractive.
Little tiny cubes of pink coloured beetroot with the tiniest bit of rocket to decorate on the one spoon and a small slice of soft spiced pear on the other spoon, with its litte knob of gorgonzole dolce perfectly ballancing the flavour.

The next course was ...Fantastic salad of gooey burrata, proscuitto di San Daniele, juicy white melon & Newlina's funky leaves

As I am a vegetarian I had the most yummy black figs ever instead of the proscuitto...
The burrata was so soft and gentle flavored, the figs and a good sized sliver of melon were on top of that then piled on top was a tidy pile of the most interestin salad leaves that I have eaten for a long time, there were so many different flavours amongst them.
I presume that Newlina was the forrager that searched out the delicious combination of leaves ..pat on the back to you Newlina , they were delicious
My husband was enthusiastic about the proscuitto, he even enjoyed the salad leaves, high praise from a man, that at one time never ate anything green!!!!

Next...either...
Tortellini of cornish rabbit, lovely wild mushrooms, mascarpone&thyme
..or..
Rolloto of crown prince squash, Toppenrose gold, broadleaf spinach. sage butter &pumpkin pangritatta

I had the squash dish and I can tell you it was truly awsome. beautiful consistancy squash with spinich wrapped in a layer of soft delicious pasta, herb butter with crisp sage leaves tipped over the top...awsome

(I thought of you all whilst I was tucking in to the meal of a lifetime, I did , I realy did )

I am told that the rabbit Tortillini were also delish' and had wonderfull mushrooms with them.

The meal goes on...Next..
Slow roasted Higher Laity farm lamb shoulder, soft polenta,char-grilled autumnal veggies&rosemary salmoriglio ( very very good )
..or..
Fillet of Cornish halibut, borlotti beans & chicory,Loos squid ,spiced crab&tomato brodo (also very very good)
..or..Fritto mista di verdura,Amalfi lemon alioli& wild rocket

I had the Fritto mista di vendura, this was a selection of vegetables that had in a fine batter, I finally got to try a courgette/zuchini flower that had been stuffed with a sort cheese, (very tasty and a nicer texture than I had imagined they would be) , amongst the veg..if I am rite, there was sweet pepper, courgette/zuchini, artichoke, aubergine, corgette flower and I think that is was on a red chard leaf , (but I may be wrong there)all of which had been lightly battered. the wild rocket leaves were tiny.
Now ,some of you might know that I am not a fan of rocket, but these were different, they were tiny leaves and had a gentler peppery atase to them , thay did not have the sort of bitter aftertaste that I find that large rocket leaves have, I would deffinatly eat these tiny leaves again if I ever found them.

On to the deserts..
there was a choice of..
Amedeli chocolate & coffee mousse, brandied cherr Timpano with creme fraiche and dark chocolate sauce ...

This was presented on a oblong plate, it looked very attractive , cherries(underneath) and mousse(ontop) were held in a generous sized standing chocolate curl ( sorry I am not sure how else to discribe it) the creame fraiche was in a quinelle at the side with a decorative spooned line of the chocolate sauce. There was a chpcolate curl on top of the creame fraiche.

..or..Baked confit lemon & ricotta tart, Cornish clotted cream & spiced new season plums.
This is what I had..Very enjoyable..I have to say that I particually enjoyed the plums and could quite happily sit down and eat a whole large bowl of them as they were SO delicious. Simply beautiful

..or..Exmoor Jersey Blue,Winchestor,St Killion,quince & crab apple jelly,Ken's pan meiteu
This was quite an awsome cheese board with good sized portions of each cheese. the quince and crab apple jelly was extreemly good, I had to pinch a few bits of my friends cheese as I had this need to eat some of the quince and crab apple jelly.

Then to finish, we had ..origin's 100% Arabica ,tripple certified expresso bassed coffee , this was served with some dark hand made truffles and some delicious thin crisp biscotti

All this added up to a truly awsome meal
Thankyou 15, this meal has now knocked the Manoir Quatre Saisons of the top spot af meals that I have ever eaten, the Manoir has now been relegated to the second best meal that I have ever eaten
(sorry Monsieur Blanc).

As a vegetarian I am always a but wary of eating out as often the meals are unadventurous , pasta or rice based. 15 has come up trumps..the veretarian dishes were all simply delicious and had my meat eating friends looking at them a little enviously. Now that is quite an acheivement.
I can deffinatly say that I will try to retern to 15 cornwall, next time , I shall try to visit in day light so that I can take advantage of the spectacular sea veiws (that I could only just make out in the darkness), such a beautiful setting to sit and dine in.

Thankyou 15 for making it a memorable evening

Visited you in August the table wasn't ready when we got there, there was no Tequila for Margarita's and the table when we eventually sat down was not as promised by the window! Enjoyed the food lots though. Your new book i would love but it is not released here in the USA where i live right now. How could i get one? Hope you open a restaurant in USA soon. We visited last summer while on holiday, and will definitely be back this year. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff natural and friendly, no pretensions or stuffiness. Our food was sublime, I had the thinnest ever carpaccio of tuna, divinely melting gnocchi, and a rhubarb and ginger pudding with rhubarb ice cream, all of which I talked about all the way home! Thank you all so much. (we also went in the daytime, and ate while watching the waves and the surfers - wonderful)

How I wish I can also go there at Fifteen Cornwall to see my idol Jamie! What I only visited so far was the Fifteen Melbourne when I went to Australia last October 2007 for a vacation. The food were great! And even more when the dessert arrived!I can't forget the taste of his olive oil that I even bought one bottle and brought it home. I know it's impossible for Jamie to visit Manila or Asia at least. Because if he only knew that there's one big fan of him waiting...that's me
Joanie!

Visit www.artist-chef.blogspot.com

hope Jamie will get to see my blog so he'll know how he became my inspiration in creating every recipe.

My husband and I spent 4 hours driving around trying to find the Fifteen restaurant in Cornwall with no luck. Sign posting for the place is woeful, but we did enjoy the views of the area, including the sea, as it was storming a beaut. We also could not find Blarney Castle in Ireland, or Roman sites in Bath. Hint to locals "If you want tourists to experience all you have to offer in your area, walk or drive around and pretend you do not know where anything is and try to find them by the signage alone". Asking locals can be an experience as a few miles can turn into 15 really fast but the seafood restaurant we found on Loch Fine was worth the drive. Intend visiting Fifteen Melbourne later on this year and will just get a taxi to take us there. Regards from Turkey Beach Australia.
