Re: how to make Italian ice?
Lemon Ice
1 Cup sugar
4 Cups boiling water........dissolve the sugar in the water, cool.
Then add 3/4 Cup fresh lemon juice and 1 Tablespoon grated rind...do not grate the pith (white) or it will be bitter.
Freeze in a tray, stirring the crystals about every now and then lest the ice freeze rock solid. When it's frozen scoop into little pleated cups and enjoy

Re: how to make Italian ice?
The Lemon Ice you're talking about is actually known as "granita". As far as the Ice-cream problem is concerned, you'd have to be more specific on the flavour first. Vaniglia? Pistacchio? Fior-di-latte? ... Let me know and I'll try and help!

Re: how to make Italian ice?
Is Italian ice cream called Gelato? We have some awesome gelato places around us. Best time is to go in the summer as they have a trillion flavors, I like the Baci/Ferrero Roche, etc flavors. I had a tiny bowl of it last week after we went out for dinner chocolate/hazelnut, so yummy! If you have any recipies I would love to try and make it. I have a manual ice cream maker.
