I recieved a "pudding pot" for a gift last year. My mother-in-law makes steamed raisin pudding! I would like anyone to send me other old family recipies using the pudding pot! THIS IS WHAT I HAVE:
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder

1/8 pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 cups raisins
*Mix butter and sugar. Add egg. Add flour and Baking powder and salt. mix well. Put in pudding pot with lid. Boil 2 hours.

Basic recipe for Steamed Puddings...
4oz butter
4oz caster sugar
6oz self-raising flour
pinch of salt
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons milk
Beat butter until soft and creamy, then beat in sugar. Mix flour and salt and add it a little at a time alternately with the beaten egg. Fold in milk. Spoon into greased pudding basin and steam for 1 1/2 hours.
Variations....
Chocolate Pudding - omit 1oz of flour from the basic recipe and replace it with 1oz cocoa. Sieve this with the flour and add to the mix.
Coffee Pudding - dissolve 2 level teaspoons instant coffee into 2 teaspoons of boiling water. Mix this with the milk and add to the mix.
Orange or Lemon Pudding - omit the milk from the basic recipe and add the zest and juice of 1 orange or 1 lemon.
Jam, Golden Syrup, Marmalade or Lemon Curd Pudding - follow the basic recipe, but put 3 tablespoons of Jam, Golden Syrup, Marmalade or Lemon Curd into the greased pudding basin before spooning in the mixture.

Stem Ginger Steamed Sponge
One of our family favourites.
6ozs butter
2 large eeggs
170g tube condensed milk
8ozs S.R.Flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
3ozs stem ginger chopped finely
2tbsp orange jelly marmalade
Grease 21/2pt pudding bowl. Put the orange jelly marmalade in the base of the bowl.
This is an all in one method sponge, so put all ingredients EXCEPT the ginger in a bowl, beat until mixed together, then fold in the ginger.
Steam for 2 hours.

Beaten to the post! Was going to submit my grandmother's (she'd be 108 now- killed in a car accident at almost 95) for golden syrup recipe.
Enjoy the recipes you have!
Cheers, Maree.
