Take a cooked meringue and spread with some chantilly cream and springle a lot of strawberries on top, add another meringue and more cream and strawberries and another meringue (as if it was a sandwich).

Etton Mess:

Re: Strawberry mania!!!

well its not really a recipe but i always cut my strawberries into halves or quarters depending on the size, then wash them in a colander and while still pretty wet i tip them into a bowl and sprinkle with sugar, try to do this at least an hour or so before eating.
cover and leave in the fridge to macerate and the sugar dissolves into the water and makes a lovely sweet strawberry syrup.
alternatively, if your not sharing with the kids, shake well after washing and add a good lug of vodka then proceed as before.
serve with extra thick double cream or mascarpone flavoured with vanilla sugar.

its simple and very basic but believe me they taste great.

ive tried the balsamic vinegar version of this and it doesnt do much for me. i think unless you get the ratio of vinegar/sugar spot on it goes haywire and tastes  puke

enjoy

Re: Strawberry mania!!!

I love them too.  We buy half flats--that about six boxes--at a time and devour them while we're out driving around.  But one of my fav ways to eat strawberries is to dip them into mascarpone and have them that way.
Do any of you have strawberry shortcake where you live?  That's a big fav here in the US.

Black and white strawberries (serves 6 - 8)

800 g strawberries
50ml fresh ground black pepper
15ml icing sugar
balsamic vinegar, to serve

Gently wash the strawberries and dry with paper towel. Put the strawberries in a glass bowl with their tops on. Give them a good grinding of black pepper - don't be shy they love black pepper and it brings out their flavour. Dust with icing sugar and just before serving, splash balsamic vinegar over them (not a lot).

Re: Strawberry mania!!!

Strawberry brulee (serves 6  - 8)

1.5 kg strawberries, hulled
1 ripe papino, peeled and seeded
1/2 c. fresh orange juice
250 g. white sugar
1/2 c. natural yoghurt
1 c cream
4-5 T. soft brown sugar

Wash strawberries thoroughly. Puree 1/4 of the strawberries with papino and orange juice. Slice remaining strawberries, sprinkle with sugar and layer into a glass bowl. Pour over puree. Stir yoghurt with cream. Spoon over strawberries and sprinkle with brown sugar. Refrigerate until sugar forms a crust. (The brown sugar takes quite a few hours to form a crust, so prepare dessert in the morning for serving in the evening.
