We have also found that menus in Mc Donalds differ quite a lot ,from country to country.

But you must admit that Maccas fries arent really crunchy... they often sit there on that draining board for a bit kept warm by a hot light... and sticking anything in a paper bag doesnt help its crispiness...

Maybe that is why they have to throw them out & start again every so many minutes as is the policy at Maccas

I think that they come out of the frier crispy enough ,but, as you say the 'sitting around' softens them.

I know that Mc Donnalds have very strict guidelines regards the cooking and storage of their products . I understand that the burgers are cooked on a time locked grill.
The timings that they allow things to be sat on the side are also strictly adheared to.

Re: How do you make McDonald's-type fries?

Yes but lets face it, the people who work there are still just people & most of them are teenagers... rules are made to be broken...

Working in the food industry (thought not Maccas) I have seen some shocking things & heard worse....

I cant prove it & didnt see it myself but a friend who worked at Maccas reckons that him & a bunch of mates added something to the pickle bucket once on a dare that made them extra tasty puke

Re: How do you make McDonald's-type fries?

If you dont salt chips straight away the salt just falls off. The cafe where I go regularly toss their chips in sea salt, pepper and parsley, very nice. Not sure what oil they cook in but it has a really nice flavour. It could be olive but Im not sure.

Mcdonalds chips always leave me feeling sick!

Can't be the salt thing, because the Mac Donalds where I grew up didn't salt theirs at all (Well, the did but did not flip them, so only some got salt and the others tasted like paper towel....)  yikes
