Re: Can we persuade Jamie to do alternative version of Jamie at Home book?

When I first saw the title to this thread, I thought,  Of course he can't!!  Then when I finally read the thread I now have to agree!  The US is  finally getting Jamie at Home and I now know what all the fuss is about!!  I would definitely buy the cookbook a second time if the graphics were like the shows pictures!   smile

Re: Can we persuade Jamie to do alternative version of Jamie at Home book?

Lets hope J.O spots this thread next time he pops in.... Pete has seen it but I dont think he really got what we were on about... I think a companion journal to the book... maybe like a book we can keep garden notes and recipes in..

I need to buy a note book anyway to keep notes in of dates when I plant stuff & where, and how long before I was able to harvest it, and what I cooked with it.

I would love something that looked like Jamies notebook in the show.

In the meantime, why not DIY?

Get a journal with warm-toned paper (preferably recycled, though it tends to bleed a bit: get a bleedproof sepia scrapbooking marker pen) and DIY. Use reference pictures to copy, rather than working from memory. Doodle birds and flowers. Collage pictures, photos, seed packets. If your handwriting is dodgy, print carefully, or glue in computer printouts. Get ink stamps of butterflies and leaves to stamp in it.

I use a free 'old typewriter' font for the mac, typenoskidi

I use watercolours to tint paper if I want it darker, but you can also use coffee or tea. Torn edges look good. I think they've gotten the 'really old sticky-tape' look by using brown paper glued on ... I had a printmaking lecturer once who used to screenprint coffee cup stains and masking tape textures onto his prints, to give them a collaged look.

Jamie,  if you read this, please consider my and everyone else's strong wish to be able to find your new book in the sketch format, they're awesome and they define you very well, it would make cooking so much fun, getting the whole family involved!
I'm glad everyone else thought the same as I did when I watched the TV series!

Regards,
Ramona

Re: Can we persuade Jamie to do alternative version of Jamie at Home book?

I have been enjoying reading the Jamie at Home , cook your way to a good life book.

I also was a little disapointed that some of the delightful and quaint illustrations that apeared on the show were not included in the book.

I think that it would be lovely if a few of these interesting little note book pages were included every so often .

I would not expect to have a whole book full of them as it might then be quite difficult to follow, but pages interleaved in topical areas would add another dimension.

Collectively we are saying that we would like to see;
The next Jamie at Home cookbook, printed in the same graphics style/format that you see on the program.

The sketches and diagrams interspersed with  jotted notes has a charm that is appealing to us "fans".  It creates a unique cookbook style that I personally find fresh and fun.

I think most of us here would buy it! (I would ask for it for Christmas, then buy a couple of copies for giving!)

I know I would buy more than one copy as I think it would make a fantastic gift for my friends who are inspired by culinary adventures!
