I dont add potato or brassica of any kind to my stock or my tomato pasta sauce.. as a general rule but that is just a personal preference.
I have occasionally added the chunky stalk from broccoli to my sauce when i have been short on veg to bulk it out (this sauce is also a main source of veg for my little Mr fussy pants)
