Yeah well, here in God's own country we have a hotline to the almighty on the plant watering front!!!! Haven't had to do any for ages! Mind you, I'm running out of "smalls" coz I can't get the blasted washing dry..........(yeah, I know, too much information! 
)

We have had sun and lower than usual humidity and heat, we can't complain. A storm knocked over part of my 'Ayesha' hydrangea which has flourished this year, that means we had a fairly mild winter or snow cover during extreme cold and plenty of moisture.

I've run away to Switzerland for a bit, had a few nasty events happen over in the UK and needed to come home and lick my wounds. It's 30C and sticky and close, we're spending tomorrow floating aimlessly on the boat in the lake and drinking beer: seems the best way to get over things! The weather has such an effect on moods and emotions, I think I would have sunk into a black gloom had I stayed in the UK. Just as well I escaped!
Does anyone here have any experience with those SAD-curing lamps? I'm quite certain that's not the technical term, but I mean those UV type lamps that are meant to counter-effect the lack of sunshine in the winter. Do they work...?!

Anna - My friend's son suffered from SAD when they lived in Yellowknife and he used a light therapy lamp and she said a few minutes made all the difference in his demenor for the day.
Hope all goes well for you and you enjoy your escape

I use a "daylight" lamp for my sewing in the winter..................wouldn't be without it now.....................didn't know I was a SAD sufferer until I started using it! (just thought I was a moody old bat!), the difference was startling.
