We have been selling a lot of it in our Farmshop over the last few weeks. I cooked some & took it in for those customers not used to it.................now there's seldom any left at the end of the day for me to buy!!!

Hiya, I love growing the Cardoon just for the striking plant it is. I have grown rat tail radish which are like little rat tails, not unlike a chilli plant. The radishes were soooo tasty in a salad. I saved the seed to grow the following year. Bear with me this is my first post. Have a good day.

Well it is a good discussion.I really like it.It is true that today we completely forget the benefits of vegetables and fruits because we prefer to eat fast food Vegetables and fruits have lot of benefits and we should use it.

Hi Guys,
On the most recent Summer Food Podcast I was chatting about a vegetable that is growing in my garden called a Cardoon. I have seen a few interesting recipes in some antique cook books lately and just wondered if any of you have cooked with Cardoon?
I would also be interested in hearing if you have any experience or thoughts about other vegetables and fruits that are no longer planted or eaten.

How do ,have you tried tree onion or walking onion, they look pretty cool on my allotment cos its the only one growing on the site. in a nut shell its an onion which grows ontop of the stem, i say an onion more like shallots a bunch grows ontop then if not picked the stem falls over the roots from onion take and the process starts again moving from origonal position hence walking onion! not many about i managed to get the last one from a scottish herb company. dont get too giddy about it but its different and if your the only one growing it prizes in the allium group will be yours! ![]()
