Good luck Homestead. If I'm not using pork, I'm sure to add plenty of vegs, eggs, etc. to keep it moist.
We still have the Fussy Eater here. If using green peppers, we have to sneak them in.
Has anyone tried mixing oatmeal in with the meat as an extender? If so, how has it worked out? Or do you use something else?

Re: The Meatloaf Thread
Talking about that recipe you linked to in which it says "catsup" in the ingredients list.
They list it as from the "Daily Grind" episode but I believe it is actually "A grind is a terrible thing to waste". In the episode when making the "glaze" he says 1/2 cup of ketchup and gets from the fridge a huge squeeze bottle of Heinz while saying any brand will do (while they flash on the screen "1/2 cup ketchup"). So I just found it interesting that the FN website has "catsup" in the recipe.
In the episode he also says the recipe can be used for meatballs as well. Just form the balls, brown in oil and slow braise in a red sauce..but that's another episode ![]()

I think Pakman is talking about Alton Brown's show "Good Eats". I love his show....very informative.

I like Alton--he teaches you about your food, but he tosses in a good spoonful of humor and some object lessons (watch his fudge episode to see what I mean).
Some of my favorite episodes involve his sister and nephew (Marsha and Elton).
I was just watching his omelette program this morning.
