Re: What Smilie Reflects Your Mood Right Now?

Not really, bit of a long story that shoud be told over a bottle of wine!

About five years ago my brother was kicked out of my father's house and Nathan and I took him in. It was fine for a year or so and then the Annoyances started to crop up and his girlfriend was over all the time and she was very protective of him and we stopped seeing him as much. Things like asking him to drive her car back illegally from a night out because she felt sick and as he was not insured. He sustained 3 points and a fine on license. I felt that she could have at least paid his fine to accept part responsibility in the situation, but she said she asked him if he wanted her to and he said no so that was that! More and more problems were caused and stupid things were done and eventually Nathan’s Mum (who owns our house) asked him to help out at the family pub to cover his rent, he said no and then she asked him to leave if he did not pull his socks up etc…things escalated and then he left.

We have not seen him for three years and it was his 22nd Birthday last week so I got in touch and we have been trying to communicate, but his girlfriend is dredging up all sorts, even though Nathan and I were very hurt and it has made me feel so sad over the years not talking to my brother who I helped to raise when he was little. He is a lovely guy, but very unrepentant. We have all made mistakes, but he has made more than most, but thinks it is all ok, as does his girlfriend. Two years ago he used Nathan’s details fraudulently which was very distressing. I asked him to apologise to Nathan and he literally said “sorry” to me and asked me to forward it to Nathan. I wrote a letter to them asking to move on and that I am willing to not look back, and bring up the past, but they are just not mature enough right now to accept this and move on. Time will tell.

Ooh sorry about that, and thanks for listening, it helps smile

Re: What Smilie Reflects Your Mood Right Now?

ciao morwenna, I've read your story and felt sorry for you being so generous and mature to understand and forgive. Be proud of yourself and ready if needed to teach how to behave to those who aren't "emotionally" old enough  to know it by themselves.
