Weekly Cooking Challenge
After some discussion in this thread below a few of us decided this may be worth a try.
http://www.jamieoliver.com/forum/viewto … 66&p=1
The goal is to get members of the site, new and old, experienced and novice to try new dishes. Due to peoples varied dietary needs and seasonal differences there are 3 challenge choices to choose from. You have one week to create the challenge dish. Feel free to post the recipe, and or experience of making it, in this thread, foodwise or in the member blog section, so others can also gain from your experience. If you post your creation in this thread and have also posted elsewhere, please provide a link to your creation. Feel free to play around with traditional recipes and create new ones.
For the first challenge White Rabbit suggested - Instead of picking one recipe we get people to choose what they like (helps with seasonality) from the list on the website http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes - So one category a week, from Jamies recipe section, will need to be chosen for the challenge.
For the second challenge two ingredients will be posted each week. A meal has to be created using those two ingredients. This meal should be a known dish, one you have always wanted to try, if you're hard up for ideas use the website search function and put in the two ingredients, something is bound to come up that you like. *Vegetarians, and those who may have an allergy to an ingredient, may need to change one of our challenge ingredients to suit their needs. If you post your creation after changing the ingredient, it would be great if you could note why you had to replace an ingredient for the benefit of others learning from your recipe.
The third challenge uses the same two ingredients for the second challenge, but the recipe must be “original”; not taken from another site or book or person, it must be your own creation.
All recipes must be in by the end of the week, Sunday for the Southern hemisphere Monday for the Northern hemisphere, give or take a degree.
We have tried to make it diverse with 3 challenges so everyone can have a go.
We're kind of hoping a Jamie ‘forum moderator’ may take over the challenge suggestions, to save confusion and frustration. If this is a sucess maybe the team for jamieoliver.com could offer a small prize for the recipe of the month, like an egg whisk or cook book from the online shop.
This week’s challenge will be kicked off with an idea given by White Rabbit for challenge 1, and another by Chelletic for challenge 2 and 3.
If you want to submit your idea for the weekly challenges I have created an email address for this purpose. Just send me an email after the new challenge for the week has been posted. You can send me an email by clicking on my name, it will take you to my profile, just click on “Send e-mail”. I will choose the first person to email me that week. I will reply to you if you got in as the “Inspirational Cook”, if you don’t respond back to me with in 2 days saying you still want to do it, I will have to pass it on to the next person, I’ll notify you if that is the case. We can all take it in turn, first in first served. If you have had a turn, leave it for a month and give other members a chance to put their ideas in. *I’m a little late this week but if its your turn to be the Inspirational Cook, please post it in this thread on Monday UK time. That’s Sunday for us southerners.
Please post in here if you have any suggestions for changes that may work better. If doing the challenge once week is too much we can always edit and stretch it out a bit.

I'm in for risotto and I might try one of the others too.
I think we should make allora have a handicap, perhaps getting someone else to take any photos of her dishes.

Amazing idea! I'm in for the risotto too, I'll go with this because it's cheap and I can find all the ingredients easily!

Hope moderators take oven and make something like a vote for every week or make things easier. This will help all of us try new dishes! Hope this works
