Re: Chat about Jamie's Food Revolution and connect with others

Writing from Huntsville, AL, I work with a non-profit, "Deep Roots of Alabama" where we teach individuals, families and communities how to grow their own food. So excited because I was presenting yesterday to a young business leadership group and they said I sounded like "Jamie Oliver" best compliment ever.

Have followed Jamie since first season aired of "Naked Chef" totally believe all he has to say. So miss him in the states and wish we could be successful in removing all the fryers from our city schools. I dropped that bomb (goal) on the group yesterday too wink

Please keep on fighting the good fight and challenging us and others to do the same. There are more and more soldiers joining the fight and refusing to be silent. Thanks for being brave and having a team behind you equal to the task.

Re: Chat about Jamie's Food Revolution and connect with others

Hi all,
I saw the show a while back.. It was great to see the school kids cooking healthy school dinners.. The schools produced really awful food and must thank jamie for putting me off ice cream (i check ingriedients all the time) also remember jamie trying so hard with that burger jount to make better burgers. Oh and that family sitting down to eat @ a table really inspired me to sit @ a table with my son.. It truly is the heart of your home.
Jamie oliver is the only t.v chef I admire, he wants us all to eat better and enjoy food that is delish and enjoy preparing it too. Most t.v chefs just want you to remember them by slapping thighs or walkin round with a knife on a hells show (say no more) jamie how ever is CHANGING THE NATION  clap

Re: Chat about Jamie's Food Revolution and connect with others

Hi, I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I would like to joined in some way in the food revolution program, such in schools or companies.
People here need to learn how to eat, how to buy food and how to cook it.
I watched the speech at Ted and it motivated me a lot.
I work in a big spanish bank so I was thinking about some teaching program for adults in private companys, for example free courses as a benefit for the employees. Teaching how to eat healthy, and teach how to do it for all the family every day.
I'm not a specialist in food, but I'm macrobiotic, and I like to tell other people how good is to eat healthy and taking care of ourselves and our family.
These are my ideas, what I have been thinking since I watched Jamie Oliver at TED.
It would be great if I can connect with others to do something about, thank you!

Florencia

PS: sorry for my english, I do my best  smile

Re: Chat about Jamie's Food Revolution and connect with others

i think that i am ashamed of schools today-fast food everywhere, couldnt just the kids  eat something healthy and more choicable for themselves,as a student i dont apperciate that thing, they must close the small cafes and open the school cafeteria in our town, i miss the old food that was served and the smell...god,what smell of sandwiches,tea...i think this is the reason of the ministry of health they dont have enough attention to us and what we want to eat ... btw watching you on 24 kitchen inn bulgaria and the recipes you make are great.

Re: Chat about Jamie's Food Revolution and connect with others

Hi,

I am part of a group that cooks mass batches of dinners to freeze and give to the local food bank. We make about 50 family meals each time we have a 'cook-up'. I was wondering if anyone has any idea's for some different recipes we could use? We do some pretty standard meals, lots of mince, that I feel are a bit boring and would love to do something different. We purchase food using donated money so we don't have a lot to spend and like to make the most of every $ we use.

Thanks for your help!

Its fantastic hearing about all your brilliant efforts and ideas on this thread. Keep em coming!

MadzNZ have you taken a look at some of these recipes from Save with Jamie.. http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/cate … with-jamie

Soups and stews are really hearty, meals and great to make in large batches and freeze. This store cupboard soup has lots of cheap ingredients like celery, carrots, onions and tinned beans and could be a good one for you guys to try?  http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pork … entil-soup
