Re: The referee's a w*nk3r!
I dunno, rugby flows pretty well and they've done video replays for years now. Plus, how often is a goal like that actually disputed? Football has fewer occasions for video-replaying goal attempts than rugby, which obviously usually racks up far more tries during a game. I'm not sure that argument's particularly weighty.

If there were application forms in the local Jobcentre for being a ref in the world cup, I'm sure everybody would apply.

I know, everyone makes mistakes, but that was no mistake.
It would have been a mistake if the ball went just past the line.
That ball was in by a meter.

Re: The referee's a w*nk3r!
Like players, refs don't start with a ticket to the world cup, they start in local leagues and work their way up through a succession of levels. Like players they need to be fit enough to keep up with the game, probably fitter because they have to follow the ball and a player can drop off once he's passed. Unlike players they don't get millions, sponsorship and adoration. They get abuse and derision. As a comparison, if the ref is pilloried for his mistake costing a goal, why not the player? He's the bloody idiot who gets the millions and can't even shoot straight? How about that useless goalie, for all the cash he gets, where can there be an excuse for letting a ball past? For all his money, how can a player use the 'off form' excuse? If he can, why not the ref?
