Eddie mentioned one in Santa Monica.  Wish we'd known about it when we were out there most summers.

True, I shouldn't have said in the States because I'm sure there are good ones along the coasts!  There's  great restaurant about an hour from me that does a great job but it's not the same!

Ocean Fish Bar ,11 Pytchley Court, Corby ,the best chippy anywhere go visit it. It is well worth it. Even with a big queue there is enough staff to make sure you are not waiting long.

They do an excellent family size bag which is good value for money. In over the 30 years they have been there I have never had any complaints. Pukka ingredients, pukka taste and pukka service.

I even go especially to Corby from Kettering to get my naughty treat of Chips and Chippy Gravy. thumbsup

Re: Jamie Magazine asks - your favourite chip shop?

Welcome to the forum Paul Dring  smile

My recommendations are...

Albany Fish Bar , Albany Road , Cardiff

http://www.qype.co.uk/place/111031-Alba … ar-Cardiff

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/cardiffonl … -25959365/

The A.F.B. ( Albany Fish Bar ) in Roath Cardiff is always busy . Good place !

Cardiff also has Chippy Lane , its not far from Jamie's Italian !
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardiff_city_centre
Chippy Lane is always busy late night , perfect for the 'clubbers' to frequent whilst on their way home !!

Both places ,I think ,will also sell...
Curry n' chips 'arf n' 'arf !!
( curry and chips with half a portion of chips and half a portion of rice )

OK, in UK it used to be called George's Fish Bar in Chadwell Health, Romford.

In Paphos it has got to be Nemo's but not only for their brilliant British fish & chips but for their curries made by Gary, all fresh and the best in Paphos.

Any place you find Brits you'll find a chip shop or two.
There's a few up here but are so far away that I haven't gone.
But now I'm craving fish and chips and am half tempted to get some cod at Safeway.  Only "half" mind you.  I've got a fridge full of leftovers.

Re: Jamie Magazine asks - your favourite chip shop?

Hello Mummza and thanks for the welcome! I have many fond memories of Caroline St, aka Chip Alley, and of Albany Fish Bar. I'm from near Cardiff so have been eating chips and curry sauce standing outside the delivery gates of Brains Brewery since I was a boy. Later as a student living in Roath I used to go to the AFB often, usually after an evening in the Albany or the George. Happy days!
