Re: Homemade Yoghurt - Help Please..

Hi Grandma, no I haven't made paneer, but I have made labna a yoghurt cheese.

I  hung the yoghurt in cheese cloth. When the whey had drained, I placed the cheese in some olive oil with pepper corns, garlic, thyme, parsley and lemon zest to marinate.

I think I may have hung it a little too long though as the cheese is quite firm, I think I would have preferred it to be a little more creamy.

It does taste lovely though, great with crackers or melba toast.

To serve it, I garnish it with fresh lemon zest (I have a zester that makes long thin strings of zest which I just love) & a little parsley, finley sliced chilli would be nice too!

What does paneer taste like? I haven't ever tried it?

Mummza, glad you had success with your yoghurt too.

After making my own, so easily (now) & so cheap, for consistancy of the supermaket varieties, it does make you wonder what goes in it!!

I just love my yoghurt! What is more suprising to me, two of my children loved it too.

Yoghurt is delicious with curry!

I made yoghut!  thumbsup

I followed all of the tips, waited until the fire hadn't been on for 2 days and the bread oven was at about 40C, popped it in overnight.  Then yesterday, I was so excited to see it worked.  It was a bit strange when I first tried it, but then I've never eaten warm yoghurt before yikes   Anyway, tried it last night, and it was delicious with a dollop of homemade apple jam on top !

I think I'll be making a curry tonight, to try it with that.  Tina loves it too big_smile

Hi Britfin
It is such a great feeling, especially when you have to wait so long for it to be ready!! I'm happy for you. Well done.

Enjoy  smile
