Re: Home Preserves

I love making chutney from

cocktail tomatoes and dried apricots
cherries (the big dark ones)
white and blue grapes
pineapple (posted on here)

The basic recipy is almost the same, the amount of sugar varies a bit, depending on how sweet the fruit is.

My pineapple chutney recipy should be of help I think:

I have posted some more recipes:

tomato-sweet pepper-relish
ajvar
apple jam (and other jam recipes)
apple-onion-chutney (one of my faves, needs a couple of weeks rest, though)

Will check this thread for some ideas.

Anyone ever tried to use strawberry for a chutney? I thought of using greep pepper with it (the ones that you can buy in preserved in a glas)

love

I'm done with the marmalade a from our citrus tree. Waiting for the green grocer to start sending the crates of nearly gone strawberries in a month or so.

Thinking I'm going to have to turn my hand at making redcurrant jelly this year, as everything in the stores has ruddy glucose-fructose (high fructose corn syrup) in it, and so my middle daughter can't eat it  angry

Re: Home Preserves

my favourite thing is pinecone honey, also we did Annabel Langbeins raspberry jam, in which we add little blueberries , tabasco sauce [great for cold winter big_smile ],dishes with seasonable veggies for winter, preserved figs are also a great idea, peach compote ,one thing we do for winter in bulgaria...there is much things to do i will explain here everyday what we did, chilli jam-yes,one thing that i like and we brought new chillies because of certain circumances-or hail for short our chillies are "dead"   mad . tomato puree and tomato sauce, and yes chilli pepper preserves with garlic, vinegar, salt and sugar... we also dry our herbs,we could make green sauces for winter, kye any ideas with apricots apart from the aperitif.
