Do you use tea strainers?
I do, and I gave my daughter one of my two. I have realised one tea strainer is not enough and have been out looking for a new one. They are not so easy to find here these days!
The shops have very few and they are big and ugly (to my eyes). I am checking out op shops but I haven't found one yet! I might look at specialist tea shops, but they are usually very expensive.
I am fussy, I didn't much like the one I gave my daughter, and I want my new one to be practical (easy to use, goes in dishwasher) and beautiful.
I don't mind taking my time to find one, but it has fascinated me that they seem to be disappearing from the shops.

Coh! I'll wait for Joy to answer you! wink!
Joy! When we owned our cafe the little teapots had tea strainers! I think it must be the invention of tea bags that may have out-dated people requiring tea strainers sadly.
Even my MIL & FIL who are avid tea drinkers use tea bags instead of their lovely posh tea pot with a tea strainer.
My hubby drinks tea, I don't sorry, so, I use tea bags.
My late grandma would crochet (not knitting the other fancy handiwork!) lovely "tea cosies"
...Oh! I would make a cottonreel woollen teapot stand when I was a teenager - do you get my drift there?!!! ![]()

Joy, these are not pretty but they will dishwash... do you want me to pop to the shop next week and post you one next week ?
The shop is only a few minutes away from where I live.
but this one from Amazon will probably most fit what your requirements
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Empress-Room-St … amp;sr=1-5
Its an ld clossic design and I remember my grandmother having ine the same , apart from the base of hers was not mesh but pressed peiced metal.

Re: Do you use tea strainers?
You darling Mummza. Actually, that is the one I have! I find it beautiful enough (the one I gave to Rose had sharp edges and didn't have that elegant streamlining!). I think I will keep looking here though thanks. I am enjoying the thrill of the chase!
The amazon one is very pretty! It is just the sort of thing I hope to find. There was a very pedestrian version of it in one shop I looked at but I decided to hold off to find one I would take pleasure in for the rest of my life.
I guess I am balancing up 'the thrill of the chase' against my irritation of only having one strainer when I get a run of guests. So far, the joy of the hunt is winning!

Re: Do you use tea strainers?
Joy i'll be in the UK for the next few weeks, if you want me to find a particular strainer that i can send you just tell me...
Its possible to buy 'loose' tea here but its rare to find the real thing that is not apple/pear/cherry/ginger
flavoured or mixes for insomniacs.
So....loving strong tea i buy PG when in the UK ...tea bags
Tea bag under the flow of boiing water in my favorite mug, totally skimmed milk (hate the taste of semi milk cream)
So no strainer
tea bag stays in the mug..
