Jamie Magazine - London Guide
Hi there
We live in NZ and get the Jamie Magazine every time its out. However, Issue #30 had a "London Guide" included - except it wasn't for us - as it has a tiny *UK only wording on the cover. We were soooooo disappointed as we are going to be visiting London in the New Year for a week.
Do any UK members happen to have a copy that they are happy to let us have? Maybe you have read it and won't be heading to London any time soon?
Thanks in advance

Eatst. is the directory of great street food.

I also will be looking for this. Perhaps I have it already, I don’t recall a London one, perhaps one I have missed. Back issues are available on the Jamie Site. Perhaps they can help.
Hotel Gordon Ramsay is the best place in town. Jamie 15 is worth a visit. Petrus is very good , in fact all Gordon’s places are very good. St John’s (perhaps Doughnuts with real Vanilla Custard, or an Eccles Cake), Borough Market (Neils Yard a must stop), Barbecoa also, check out the Butchers(Barbecoa). Ginger Pig does the best sausage Roll ever, among other cool things. Brick Lane is full of tourist curry Houses(don’t be taken in). Head instead to Cinnamon Club and its partner, they look like something special.
Bagels are on Brick Lane, 24/7 I usually end up in there for a coffee and Bagel.
Near Victoria is William Curlez he has the best chocolates , also check out Rococo for chocolate., very good. Fortnum and Mason are well worth visiting.
Museums for free Tate Modern, is next to food heaven Borough Market.
Have a good one!

Welcome to the forum bearskin_nz
When are you planning to visit London , I know you have said in the New Year does this mean January or sometime in 2013 ?
I have to say that I cant remember receiving a suplement with the magazine but I think Issue 30 was last months magazine which I have not yet received, ( this has reminded me that I need to contact the magazine to see where the issue has got to ). I remember seeing it on the newstands. If I manage to get hold of the ' London guide' you would be welcome to borrow it.
Tate Modern is near to Bourugh market and is well worth planning a visit there but dont eat much before you go as there are planty of vendors selling delicious things to eat in the market. ( please not the market is not open every day )

Re: Jamie Magazine - London Guide
Thanks for the replies. I have contacted the magazine direct and they are sending me an electronic version which will be perfect as we can have it on our laptop and ipad when we're there.
Given that we will also be visiting other parts of the UK and have a chance to go to, say Jamie's Italian when we are in Bristol or Bath, which of the Jamie empire restaurants do you think we should visit? (We will be with kids - aged 7 and 11)
We'll be going to Borough Mkt, Neals Yard definitely. Dunno about curry - the boys do like it... I'd thought maybe Moro for a lunch as well. Personally I am very keen to gte a couple of pints in at a proper pub (sadly non-existent in NZ) Any other must-do's in terms of eating and drinking??
It will be interesting to visit London as a tourist with kids - we'll be doing ALL the main sights, whereas if it was just the 2 parents it would be long walks and as much foodietastic treats as poss...

Re: Jamie Magazine - London Guide
Good way to see the sights is on one of the open top tour busses and also on a river boat trip. The children will live both of those.
The children might like 'union jacks ' which served 'flats' ( like pizza ) .
Jamie's Italian .. Went to the Bath one once and failed to get a seat , it was very busy, there is a new jamies italian Deli there ,which I must go and have a look at soon.
Curry ... A lot of curries are mild , it depends where you go to , they are not all hot and spicy but more about the delicate and clever spices to enhance the dish.
We like Rasa in Stoke, London , there are 2 restaurants opposite each other one serves meat and fish plus vegetarian dishes and opposite on the opposite side of the road is Rasa that is just vegetarian. (not been there for a while.. That's somewhere else I must get to again before too long!) .
I have to admit that I thought Neil's yard was a thing of the past , I did not realise it was still open !
I have never been to Moro so I have no idea what it's like. I have seen the book though and keep meaning to get a copy.
One thought ....Paris is very accessible via the euro tunnel ( but train tickets pricey is you buy them short notice , they can be bought in advance on line ) .
If your as far as Bristol , Cardiff isn't much further , the boys might like Cardiff Castle , easy acess from the train station as its in the centre of the city and a short walk from the large Jamie's Italian in Cardiff .
I do know that everything takes longer than you think in London , when I'm there I seem to spend ages traveling about on busses or trains/underground to get to where I want to go to.
And going round with children also adds time on to
things . I know when my children were small we only ever managed to get around half of what we expected to do actually done.
Another place that is good to visit in London is Covent garden , but the boys might no find that too interesting.

Re: Jamie Magazine - London Guide
Thanks for the replies, some great ideas!
We actually ARE going to Paris as well as it is a simple stopover option for us. Also Hong Kong which should be an experience.
I have been to Jamie's Italian in Bath before - went for a very early lunch so that we could get a table - it was packed despite being vast, and about midday... I think there's one in Bristol, so might well try that whilst we are there - although there are a lot of other very good eating out options there these days to think about as well.
Anyway - London! We'll be staying centrally - Haymarket to maximise our doing-stuff time. I guess I'd like to have at least one pub-meal trip, one Italian/pizza type meal, and maybe a curry. And as we there over a weekend, a big Sunday feed style... Any recommendations for central/West End things?
