If using a skillet in the oven, it can be hard to remember the hot handle once it's out of the oven. You can purchase a silicone handle cover. It's saved me from burning myself many times.

Also have to remember that most silicon handles are only safe up to 200C.
Some people advise wrapping handles in foil to preserve them.
I just don't use pots/ pans with silicone in ovens over 180C to be safe.
Also don't use Pyrex (or similar) over 180C. Birdymum has a graphic set of pics on her blog here to illustrate Pyrex at 200C, open door to check food, cool air causes Pyrex to shatter.

I'm talking about a silicone handle sleeve that one slips over a metal skillet handle to protect one from burning by accidentally grabbing the hot handle. This sleeve is designed to take high heat.
I would never put anything with a silicone or plastic handle in the oven, just to be on the safe side, easy for me since I don't own any. I really like the solid stainless - seems to hold up forever.
