Maree the 'traditional' and 'quick cook' oats we have most commonly are rolled oats. The pin head and steel cut oats are the whole grain cut up (with steel blades - to pin head size). They have pin head oats for sale in a shop here and I am longing to try them.

Thanks, Joy . What, I wonder, are the taste and the nutritional advantages of steel cut and pin head.
As I said previously, I don't eat oats, even prior gluten issues.
