Pink Himalayan Salt
Hi
I am on my second bottle of Jamie's Pink Himalayan Salt and was a bit dismayed to discover recently that it is not, in fact, harvested in the Himalayas but in a salt mine in Pakistan (and packed in Turkey). Is this strictly ethical, as I feel as though I am being misled.

The Himalayas reach in to Pakistan. Is it possible the salt mine is still in the Himalayan range?
I would think if you're happy with the product enough that you bought two jars, then it shouldn't matter, especially if it is the same or similar to Himalayan pink salt.

Well, it tastes like salt, so in that respect I am happy. However, what matters is the fact that it is marketed as being Himalayan, when I am fairly sure that it isn't.
Maybe I will try the Australian Murray River pink salt Maree!

Available in and for grinders or loose for sprinkling. Have used Himalayan pink salt (not Jamie's) before but prefer to keep my "food miles" down and buy locally when I can.

a quick google shows that the pakistan's Khewra salt mine is in the himalayas and the salt it produces is pink to reddish colour. So as MsPablo pointed out by definition the salt coming from it would be pink himalayan salt. No deception whatsoever.

Yes, indeed, Ashen. That is if the salt does come from the Khewra salt mine.
Over the last few years a new scam has emerged in Europe which is rapidly spreading across the world; it "Involves ordinary rock salt from the “salt range” in Pakistan being marketed as luxurious and healing “Himalaya Salt”... and includes high quantities of bromide ..."
I would simply like to know the exact source of Jamie's pink rock salt.
