Re: Do you take time to reflect before eating a meal?

I got dinky little plastic containers with snap-on lids at Asda, I use them to pot up treats for Mini Hippytea (yoghurt, stewed apple and so on). They're probably about 60ml? Can't find them online but they sell them in my local store. They're really good because they're taller than they are wide - ideal for storing runny things. I think they were about 80p each.

Re: Do you take time to reflect before eating a meal?

Here, I found something similar on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/PLASTIC-STORAGE … amp;sr=8-1

These are wider than they are tall, but I rather like the coloured lids. Mine just have white lids. But then, Amazon don't pay their taxes. But Asda is owned by Wal-Mart...

Everything is an ethical dilemma these days.

eta: if you search for "mini food storers" there are actually loads of things like this. People use them to store home made baby food.

Re: Do you take time to reflect before eating a meal?

I don't agree with that point of view. I respect that you have probably done your research to arrive at that conclusion, but I have also done mine, and have found no evidence which has convinced me that plastic food containers will kill me.

With respect, I would appreciate it if you would present your views on what is a debatable matter in a slightly less extreme way.

Re: Do you take time to reflect before eating a meal?

Glass containers are really the best.  They're not cheap, but you only buy them once.  And, they can be cleaned thoroughly.  Those flimsy plastic containers the grocery store sells are practically disposable.  They don't hold up and recycling is basically one more way of adding energy costs and pollution for re-processing all that stuff.  One thing I liked in Holland was that you could tell the plastic bottles were actually re-used, not broken down and made into something else.

It is true they can be hard to clean if you cook or reheat food in them - you get the 'orange halo' effect.
