You just clean the artichokes down to the heart, then slice them in half. Then you have to blanch them until tender with a few slices of lemon and then layer them on top of sliced potatoes in the baking dish and proceed as normally. Don't forget to season them.

For a normal moussaka yes, but the other day I wanted it to be low carb so I omitted any pasta or potatoes.
