Emergency forces rescue a man from his car which he crashed into a church roof in Limbach-Oberfrohna, Germany. The 23 year-old was severely injured. According to the police the driver missed a turn at high speed, continued straight ahead on a slightly rising field and then finally 'took off' to land in the church roof seven metres above the ground.

Re: News today

It would be a church roof. I'm glad he lived, no doubt to fulfill some remarkable destiny.

Credit-crunched UK eats on the cheap

More people in Britain are turning to home cooking and cheap takeaways as a result of the economic slump.

Sales of branded food items are down, as price-conscious consumers look for bargains in the supermarket, and eat out less.

Re: News today

Nothing but horrid news in Australia today, a man very publicly murdered his 4 year old daughter, also in front of his two sons.

Every now and then a story such as this unfolds, and no matter how many "nice" stories grace the headlines, just this one stains the day.

Craig,

I saw that on the news.

As a parent and grandparent myself I found this article extremely distressing and tragically very sad.

Re: News today

I think severe untreated mental health problems are a bigger issue in that story.
