Your Favorite Cookbooks!
Which cookbook do you use the most, or find the most beautiful? Which cookbook has the most chocolate or tomato sauce smudges from years and years of use?Which cookbook would you give as a gift? Which cookbook will be passed down from generation to generation in your home?
I would love to hear about your favorite cook books!

Re: Your Favorite Cookbooks!
My most beautiful cookbook:
'AUTUMN' by Susan Branch. It's illustrated with watercoloured pictures and has delcious recipes and decorating ideas for my favorite season, Autumn.
My most used cookbook:
'BEST OF BAKING' by Betty Crocker. This has everything you put in the oven! Lots of timeless recipes, and also recipes for baking with kids.
The cookbook I would give as a gift:
'JAMIE OLIVER AT HOME.' We all know how wonderful this cookbook is! I find it inspiring and down to earth. Love it!
The cookbook that will be passed down for generations:
'THE ESSENTIAL COOK BOOK' by Caroline Conran & Terence Conran. My mother gave me this book when I moved into my first apartment on my own. It taught me all the basics and really got me interested in cooking. I gave a copy to my little sister when she moved into her own place.
Other Favorites:
'THE ART OF SIMPLE COOKING' by Alice Waters
'MY OWN COOK BOOK' by Gladys Taber
'PICTURE COOK COOK' by Betty Crocker

Re: Your Favorite Cookbooks!
....if your list only includes Jamie Oliver cook books, that's fine too

I would say I nearly love all my cookbooks. I am a cookbook addict, I must admit. I will try hard on a summary... ![]()

Obviously Jamie's are best (I learnt to cook from them and believe me I'm not a natural!) but I'd really recommend Sophie Grigson too, esp. Meat Course, Organic & First Time Cook (don't be put off by the title, there's great stuff for everyone).

I have to agree with Caroline B - I am an addict too when it comes to cookbooks (don't know why but there is something about them).
Amidst all of them I do still love my first cookbook that we were given in school - it's called Tip-Topf and it's really teaching you some of the basics...

Me too!!!
I buy cookbooks and read them how other people read novels!
my cook books are full of post-its on pages with recipes I want to try out...one time, my husband asked me how long I want to live, and I said, "Long enough that I can try out all these recipes!"

Same here! I bought a big IKEA shelf for the cookbooks only. I cannot throw one away... ![]()
