Re: Ready, Set, Cook Discussion Thread
Nice Yammy, so should we vote on a pair, or for something different give a choice of all three.

Re: Ready, Set, Cook Discussion Thread
I did a bit of research and found this one! http://offthebroiler.wordpress.com/2009 … ato-kugel/
I also got inspired by the lovely celeriac at the local veggie shop and thought I might add it in....
But on the other hand, I like to follow recipes pretty carefully first time and I am already replacing the chicken fat with butter and the matzo meal with breadcrumbs... so I am not so sure about adding another change to the recipe.
Ooo it is a challenge isn't it!

Re: Ready, Set, Cook Discussion Thread
I put that site in favourites the other day Yammy, it looked like a good source for recipes. Thats what Im liking about this challenge, it is a good and proper challenge. We'll all have to keep our eyes peeled for things we have never tried to list as future suggestions.
Im off to try to find a sweet krugel, if not I may make a traditional one.

Re: Ready, Set, Cook Discussion Thread
I was just about to ask what matzo meal is but see you are substituting breadcrumbs Joy. I will need hubby to do all that grating for me as I don't have a food processor and my hands give up after grating one carrot.
MrsM, could you please add choux pastry to the list of future challenges as it's something I have always been afraid to try. I would like to have a go at profiteroles one day.

Just found a definition for matzo at the site Shammy directed me to Luv me.
A thin, crisp, unleavened bread that is traditionally eaten during the Jewish Passover.
Tradition dictates that matzos be made only with water and flour, but modern versions include certain flavors, such as onion.

I also read matzo meal is made by grounding matzo bread.....I was curious too.
