Hi Guys,
Just wondering what your ideas were of eating well. Is it low fat? Low carb? Or just eating as a family at the table?

My idea of eating well buying the best ingredients your budget will allow and putting a bit of thought and effort into preparing, cooking and eating them. Everything in moderation apart from fruits, veggies and water ![]()

I agree with rhianna. Eating well to me is avoiding junk foods, but I have an addiction to chocolate.
We also always sit around the table as a family for dinner every night that we can, which is most nights. We think this is important family time and helps develop healthy eating habits.
I have to say though that you can have too much fruit. My brother kicked off his type II diabetes (we have a family history of it) by going on a health kick and eating about a dozen fruits a day. Natural sugar overload! He ended up in hospital for a week with severe abdominal cramps before they diagnosed him with diabetes. Of course, he was already susceptible to developing it, so this is not normal.

For me eating well is what is on season, good quality fresh sound foodstuff, understand what I'm eating possibly recognizing and tasting the different igredients, leave the table happy and in peace, with the desire to eat that again in short
as for a good coffee, as soon as you have finished it you have the desire to drink another one

hi, i think eating well is definatly cooking meals yourself for you and the family, fresh ingredients, good quality ingredients. As ive gone from been someone who will pick something out the freezer ready made every night to been someone who wants to cook and enjoys it, id definatly say homemade food is eating well :-) i want to pass on good healthy eating habits to my kids too. All thanks to jamie i guess he`d made me love food how your suppose to love food.

To me eating well means buying fresh seasonal ingredients, the best quality that I can afford. Then bringing them home and treating them well, and that includes:
- avoid frying
- cook vegetables simply and not too long to obliterate their nutrients
- avoiding refined starches
- eating with the television turned off and at the table
- eating slowly
- eating the vegetables and proteins first, and leaving carbs near the end.
- preparing food simply

My idea of eating well - a good wholesome diet ( and a little naughty ) cooked and enjoyed with care and love, in a happy relaxed environment with the people you love around you.
Washed down with a good glass of red of course

Eating well , for my family is plenty of good fresh ingredients that are put together to make delicious meals.
Food does not have to be fancy , but it does have to be wholesome and taste good.
Eating around a table is important to my family , many interesting things get discussed
when we are all around the table eating a tasty meal.

My idea of eating well, is being balanced with food. Using fresh food within your budget and if possible home grown. Cooked with love and shared with the ones you love.
If your diet is varied with fruit, veg, meat, fish, pulses and cereals........ then a bit of chocolate or a nice Mojito will not hurt.
Some people have the time to cook many things at home, some have the time to cook and grow at home. I make as much time as I can. To me there is little excuse to not having any time to cook a decent meal. Cooking and eating well is like anyother priority you make time for it, like you would to have a shower or bath.......and even then some people seem to not have time
