I heard a food guy on the radio say this:
Fresh Food, Not Too Much, Mostly Plants
That is now my mantra!i heard that too!
so wish i could follow that mantra.... (she says prior to leaving house to have pizza with boyf)
I am sure you could argue a bit of pizza in!
I also meant to add the importance of DELICIOUSNESS! ![]()

I can't put it better than Betty MacDonald did: good food, well-seasoned, and attractively served.
Incidentally, pizza is actually a fairly well-balanced food, particularly if it has some vegetable toppings.

hi everyone!
for me eating well means eating what your body asks for.
i mean, I just have had for 'almuerzo' (our meat between breakfast and luch (a kind of brunch), bread with fresh tomatoe, cheese and pork sausage and a dish of little fish fried (in extra virgin olive oil) with salt and lemon...mmmm
for lunch i'm waiting for my grandmother's grilled rice.
I'm not fat and I think it is because of my age but also because I try to mix as much ingredients as possible in my diet (including pizza, fastfood, chocolate...)

I would say that eating well is eating food cooked with love for ingredients and passion for taste, so that basically rules out fast food, junk food etc. I also honestly believe in avoiding all sorts of low-fat-no-sugar-vitamins-added-claiming-to-be-healthy-cardboard-tasting junk, so vigorously promoted in the media.
The basic principle is that everything that tastes good, is good for me. That's why a real good fresh Italian pizza can never do harm, as well as home made French fries and real Belgian chocolate (unless diabetic), while the fast-food alternatives of those goodies are full of synthetic junk that's no good for us, which explains their lesser tastes.

eating well to me means:
1. fresh, not processed food
2. seasonal
3. varied diet
4. plenty of fruit and veg
5. meat and poultry with high welfare standards
6. not too much sugar or fat
7. regular mealtimes, not too much snacking
8. eating sitting down, not doing other things, with friends and familyI agree 100 percent!
But sometimes eating well means (to me!) breaking all of these rules and forget about the bad conscience...
ye, as well I agree to sometimes breaking the rules ![]()

Hi Jamie..Eating well to me is having a family meal around the table...no tv but good wholesome tasty food. My youngest grandson joined in the family roast at a mere 9 months..and ate today at your guildford restaurant...now 10 and a half months. His enjoyment of pasta and tasty food was clear to all. I love cooking and getting good food, but in my job, I have a problem...I work on front line ambulances, frequently doing a 13 hour shift with only half an hour break...I need some help there...Can you help us...many of the ambulance service have weight/diet problems because of snatched meals, and frequently tend to have a quick carb or sugar fix. I do try to be good. ![]()

Eating well for me is more about being aware of what is in my food so that my intolerance does not cause health effects. That's the main goal. After that I prefer a balanced diet and have noticed as I've gotten older that if I have eaten as many vegetables in the day as usual that I don't feel as well.
In buying food it's all about quality. That is the best tasting and best condition. Ideally locally grown as much as possible (though it's fairly easy here). I don't go in for organic unless it happens to fit those criteria. I am willing to spend more on food if it is good.
With cooking it's abouot the ingredients for me, so I don't tend to spice things very often as if I've bought the right ones then the flavour is already there.

Eating well means fresh vegetables, whole grains, fruits, fresh fish, olive oil, cooking at home, and serving it with a wonderful wine, with dark chocolate for dessert.
And if you can share that with someone... so much the better.
Eating well has no place for low-fat and low carb diets. Variety and all things in moderation makes eating a great experience.
