Re: Food for your skin

I've always heard that it wasn't chocolate candy or chips per se, but iodine from the salt in foods that make some people break out.

Re: Food for your skin

Allora, thatīs a good idea. Thanks. I will have that tested! My daughter is very sensitive to candida infections, too. Maybe this is interlinked somehow...

Re: Food for your skin

I believe green leafy vegetables (and reducing refined sugars) make for even skin cell size and reduce the chance of breakouts. However I've nothing to back this up but personal experience. Also finding a cleanser that doesn't irritate your skin is a good idea. I started using cetaphil a few years back and it made a world of difference because even some of the big brand sensitive skin lines were causing lumpiness on my face.

Hi Allora,

its funny you mentioned this. I've been a sales rep of nutritional supplements till about a year ago and we had a product for the candida albicans fungus which was very effective. It contained an extract of a plant from New Zealand called pseudowintera collorata rich in polygodial. It worked great in most cases so try to find this substance.
I know that supplements with cranberry also work.

In any case candida infections usually arouse when theres a significant change in your intestinal flora. i.e. when one takes antibiotics.
So 2 advices: try to keep your intestinal flora the more regulated as possible (pre and probiotics are a great way) and try to keep your immune system strong.
Candida usually manifests when one of these things are bad.

There are other reasons but they're more intimate and since Im not a doctor Im sure there are other people who can help you more than me.

As to the skin, apart from whats been said, antioxidants play a major role maintaining a healthy skin, so things like cranberry, raspberry and especially pomegranate have huge amounts of antioxidants.
Skin as you know is the first barrier to defend us from free radicals....

Will be happy to provide more info if you need.

Cheers thumbsup

Re: Food for your skin

hi sergio  smile

i don't suffer with it anymore but thanks for the infos  thumbsup i went to a naturopath for treatment who gave me a couple of shots every week for about 6 weeks (sorry, can't remember what was in it  hmm ) and  it worked a treat....he also said it was probably due to the fact that i had to use antibiotics reguarly and my intestinal flora was all over the place  roll
