Re: Is there a cooking or food preparation process that you hate?

I can not touch a full chicken! It's just wrong! I have to stand beside the OH and give instructions of how I want it prep'ed.

Oh and I have cleaning the food processor! It's the biggest chore in my eyes!  big_smile

Ah, in this thread i can hear the sighs of many put upon husbands who do the dirty work that we won't. Mr Rabbit had to cut up chickens ....and does a lot of other stuff, i like to direct in the kitchen more than do.

Re: Is there a cooking or food preparation process that you hate?

I hate chopping/slicing chicken , especially as food poisoning from poorly cooked chicken meant I spent most of my wedding day in hospital on a drip. It's almost given me an OCD about it - I always have to wash my hands and then use an alcohol rub afterwards.

Oh, and washing up of course!

My favourite thing is chopping garlic, don't know why. Just deeply satisfying to section it all up.

Hi all I'm new here and decided this be the first post I'd respond to!

What I absolutely detest foodpreparing wise is making dough, which is a shame because I love pies and such. But it is always either too sticky or too dry  sad  So when I am in the mood I make lots and put it in the freezer!

Does oven cleaning count?
This year to date i;ve paid a company 3 times to do it...........how decadent tongue

It's a lot cheaper to get a self-cleaning oven, really it is.

Theres no such thing, believe me, its just a con.
2 ovens =  2 floors, 2 rooves,7 racks, all need scrubbing clean.OK "self clean" liners help a little.
But then they do get used more than is used domestically hmm

Mine isn't a con.  It's a continuous clean oven; it cleans while it's working.  It's an old one, maybe that's why, but not only does it never need scrubbing, but you actually CAN'T scrub it or you'll damage it.

I hate cleaning the food processor, too, but that's because I'm a little scared of the blade.

Hate touching raw chicken - and crumbing  - I do crumb chicken, veal & fish fillets & sometimes eggplant slices but its a job I dont like so I usually try to do a big batch at once.

Right now I have 3kg of chicken thigh fillets all crumbed & ready to go in the freezer as they werre on special & it was much better for me to buy loads & get it all done & cleaned up after in one afternoon.

I love crumbing. I think it is one of my favourite things to do. Isn't it funny how different we all are?  big_smile
