let me ask my silly question of the day
about rhubarb
I forced it covering it with clay pots this year and it is sprouting wonderfully.Till now I have been discovering it during the day and covering it again at night ......... how long does this need to go on
I have not any taller pots now
and what happens if it frreezes at night, sometimes we have had very cold days at the right at the beginning of May. This forcing has made it weaker I do not know how to behave with it

I don't know about forcing it but you can just use an old bed sheet to cover it at night, since it's getting too big for your pots.
Good luck!

It's never a silly question if you don't know the answer!

Re: let me ask my silly question of the day
I haven't read Kye's link yet. But my Dad always had rhubarb. I'll be talking to him later today I'll ask for you Mada. I do remember that he would alternate which stools were forced, never using the same one as last year, I believe he let a stool rest for a full year if it had been forced, So if you have three stools, you would have one in use over current summer, one which had been forced that spring and was resting and the last one would be resting from the previous years forcing. He used straw or loose layers of newspaper to cover the forced pot at night if frost was forecast. He knocked a bottom from a large terracotta type pot for tall stems and would cover it with a straw basket held up from the plant with sticks from the garden.
Hope this helps. It's from memory as I said. I'll check later this evening when we have a chat.
