Re: Crazy Storm
Thanks Gem!
LMG - My brother invited us to visit, so we've gotten out of Dodge, so-to-speak. Don't know if we can hold out until power is restored. MrP may need to be back in the area sooner.

MsP, We got some of that storm here. Hail was biiger than golf balls. All cars were plummeted to death, but that is all except for a bit of roof damage. I'm so sorry the storm left your area in such a bad condition. (Reminds me of Hurrican Fran!) Wish I could help and if I can please let me know.

Re: Crazy Storm
Thanks Ann and Lynne!
Natural disasters and the incompetence of our local electric company do not make for a good combination! Jim Fallows of 'The Atlantic' says polls show that our electric company is the most hated company in America. They were in the dog house when they left us without power after a winter storm for five days. It was freezing cold. They did idiotic things that wasted money and time, such as repairing almost all of the problems on our street, but leaving us and about 5 other homes without power for an extra 3 days. To send the crews out is very costly. They should have finished the work there before moving on. They're raised our rates a high percentage that seems almost illegal. For a while, they were allowed to charge us extra if they lost income because of our power being out! I believe that the state has ruled now they will be charged fines if they leave us without power for long periods and that money will be distributed to customers.
I would see it a little differently and be more empathetic with the huge task they have if they hadn't provided such poor service in the past. Once again, they have also let trees become overgrown over wires, despite sending out trucks to trim the trees. They never trim them properly. This is what we're paying for dearly in times when people are out of work.
One solution would be to bury the wires, but it's very costly.

Glad you are OK Pabs. Sadness for victims. Bad weather seems to be everywhere, nothing quiet so bad here. Lots of rain and floods.

Thanks @nGoose1!
Due to this storm, one man had trees fall on both of his cars, crushing them. Then, the power company activated the power line that was laying on top of the cars and they burned. The fire department showed up and couldn't do a thing until the electric company de-activated the line. By making that mistake, the power company could have killed people.
