Re: Christmas Breakfast
Are Welsh cakes eaten for Christmas breakfast? They look so pretty.
I like the idea of making cinnamon rolls with icing.

Re: Christmas Breakfast
Yummy, cinnamon rolls with icing.
My sister once made a ham sandwich with cream cheese, instead of mayo, and lettuce, it was delicious

Re: Christmas Breakfast
MsP Welsh cakes are eaten at anytime of the day , they are not usually eaten at breakfast as they as really an afternoo tea or mid morning type treat , as if you are eating a biscuit/cookie.

Re: Christmas Breakfast
Thanks mummza! I was hoping to make them for Christmas or New Years this year (a gluten-free version). We will eat them in the afternoon with tea, not at Brekkie, I promise!

Re: Christmas Breakfast
Ii does not really matter when you eat them MsP , quite a lot of people eat then buttered.
They are nicest fresh made and straight from the griddle/bake stone
I sometimes get them made, cut out and not baked until I need them , or sometimes I just make the dough and put that in the fridge overnight ready to be used, I get it out f the friidge to come to room temperature before I need to use it.

Re: Christmas Breakfast
or make your own pancakes at home and bring them in, all you need is flour, sugar, baking poweder (to make the fluffy) one egg, milk and melted butter thats cheaper than buying the pancakes and also solves where to cook them.

Re: Christmas Breakfast
Fruit, healthy for children a good idea, not cakes? Actually I have scrambled egg with smoked salmon (real deal, not farmed pap).On toasted sourdough if I am in Bavaria, Homemade toasted soda in the U.K.
The onslaught that may occur latter for dinner, demands no full English in the morning, or Pretzel, salami, cheese, bratwurst German breakfast.
