I am so happy , my wife brought home some Oka with mushrooms cheese. Quebec version of Port Salut .. one of my favourites.
We just bought some great rye bread , olives and I have an inexpensive 1.5 L bottle of red that I bought mostly for cooking ![]()

Ashen i have just read about Oka, Port Salut is a very good cheese but a little mild for my taste. How much did your inexpensive red wine cost & did your cooking get a 'taste' of it?
You have the three essentiel ingredients for an excellent dégustation...four with the olives.

kye.. you can buy a 3L bottle of it for 17.4 euro. the 1.5 L is approx 9.8 euro. inexpensive by our standards, as alcohol tends to cost more here . ( high taxes on alcohol here) Yes my cooking has and will get a taste.. It is the best wine I have found so far to replicate the homemade wine in recipes from my childhood. This also means it is a perfect table wine with meat cheese bread.

Our high tax on alcohol concerns spirits...Whisky, Gin, Vodka...happily we are not adepts
Of course that sounds really expensive to me but i am not biased, in England the cheapest reds/rosés/whites cost £3.70 for 75cl bottles.
Well maybe just a little biased
as we pack the car boot with litres of wine each time we go there
For drinking, cooking with and giving to friends.
Our cheapest wines in supermarkets are €1.45 for 75cl Bordeaux and around €1.00 a litre when bought in 5 litre plastic which are great for cooking with as they keep for quite some time.
