Smen (Morroccan fermented butter) - could I use Lurpak?
So I'm looking at the Mechoui Lamb recipe in Jamie Does, and it says to rub the lamb with smen or butter. Obviously I could just use the butter and ignore the smen angle, but if I used a cultured butter like Lurpak, would it give me a hint of the authentic flavour?
I could make some smen - there are recipes online - but I'm not sure I want to go to the trouble.

I saw on food safari a few years ago that they used a mild, creamy blue cheese instead of the Smen. You could probably even mix butter with the blue cheese.
