A massive WELL DONE to our team in Portsmouth, head and shoulders above the competition and runaway winner in the Best Restaurant category of The News Guide Awards at the end of 2011.
Voted by the readers of The News, the award recognises the excellent standard of food and Sous Chef Dan Gover was delighted to accept the trophy on behalf of all the team at the restaurant.
"The produce we use really speaks for itself - it's the best.  Our customers can eat fresh truffle at a high street price.  To offer that to people walking in from doing their shopping is amazing!  Working here gives you a buzz everyday.  It's a fantastic feeling to win the Guide Award.  Everyone here was over the moon.  It proves all the hard work's paying off and it's nice to feel that Portsmouth is behind us!"
Jamie's Italian has been a major player in Portsmouth since our impressive opening in the summer and they consistently display the high standards and the brilliant team spirit we're famous for.
Jamie Oliver added "I'm so proud of my team in Portsmouth for winning this.  They've worked hard since the opening in May and they've made really sure that Jamie's Italian has become a great place to eat for the people of Portsmouth.  It's always humbling to get an award, especially when it's voted for by the public, so big thanks to all the staff and all our customers.  Thank you all very, very much.
